Ok Its not Sydney this time

Ok so we didnt win but it was a good game a tough one at that and well not this year. Im not too worried I guess at the end of the day I would have liked a draw so next weekend was game as well but for now I'll just be glad with the team in the final and the dedicated fans who support themno matter what and well be back in 2007 and I'll be watching and following again.

Of the many rose bushes my Grandfather grew here and the one that has stood all the neglect and years to still flower well today.

Ok Belmore Basin looking wouth for Saturday Sky and then too the east to the Old Wollongong Lighthouse which for the current Breast Cancer Fundraising is turned on as a pink colour til Tuesday night I hope to go tomorrow night for some photos.

Ok so we are in Belmore Basin Wollongong and want a nice lunch before SnB so I ate at Bombora Seafood enjoying the mixed plate of seafood. Ok it is a bit flashy compared to my normal ideas for lunch but enjoyed it. I did order a pot of Earl Grey Tea to enjoy with it but alas it never arrived the whole time I was waiting and eating I had to go and ask them for it but as I needed to get moving to somewhere else first I grabbed it as a take away and well quickly drunk it down before getting to the next thing I had to do. This was The curse of the Earl Grey I'm sure. At snb I again ordered a Earl Grey and again had a problem getting it to me.

Plenty of knitting is being done and even if it is a Long weekend for Labour Day holiday I still have work on Monday as normal. So back to the knitting more updates later.

And the 2006 AFL Premiers are......

Ok I saying this early but well I am going to wear my new polo shirt as it is Stitch n Bitch I cant really watch the game. Ill be getting updates though to keep me in the loop and well knitting red and white. I have a scarf to knit and a beanie so these will become show entries after but ok to work on at SnB. The swan has just joined my ranks today and my Mother asked how I was going to store all thse collector pieces I am getting. So far they live in the boxes that they come in in acetate boxes or in acid free bags in the wardrobe. I even have awaiting Gp Boots there as well I guess its turning into the store room instead.

As for my Swans mmmm I feel goood about this one but the next episode will reveal.......

An Army cup of tea ...nooo I have Jades Cup with me

I dont know how my tea bags passed thru the inspection but they did the lovely Jade sent me the most wonderful smelling Orange Spice Green tea for me to share an across the miles cup of tea. My envelope was still intact and had the most wonderful aroma coming from it. I was looking all over for the tell tale signs that Quarrantine had got to it but hooray I got mine. I must say I am ever so thankful for the lovely cup I am currently sipping in the Kookaburra mug. I guess it must have fitted with yesterdays post to have them arrive today.

Thank you Jade I am enjoying a cup with my biscuits for supper tonight.

There is nothing like an Army cup of tea

Today was not only a rather hot and gale force winds day but the early start to the Red ALert period for bushfires. For me it means not planning too much as I am not only a Fully uniformed Salvation Army Soldier and playing 2nd Cornet in the band but also a member of the Salvation Army Emergency Services. Being part of the SAES means I am the catering for Disasters and Emergency situations. There have been some days I wont forget with this and others where just the standby time prooved good for knitting.

I have served countless cups of Tea and Coffee and made meals for those who were in need and were on the meals list at these times. Many years ago a song was part of a musical entitled Take Over Bid and has been the theme behind the Army cup of Tea. There is even some good facts about tea on the site as well.

We also had our YP Anniversary today (sunday school or Yopung Peoples) and well how can I post about the Salvation Army and not put a picture of the Timbrel Brigadge. These are the Junior girls with their march to Barrie Gotts "Lightwalk". For those who say they are tambourines well heres a fact timbrels have 2 rows of bells which is the slight differeing noise between them. Please excuse the fact I had to stand up from my seat in th far corner of the band to get the photo with everything in the way.

Ok I did get on with the 3rd pair of bed socks and well they dont make good blogging. I must knit as Christmas Carolling will start before I know it as well.

Another sunny Saturday sky

So it is another warm day in the land down under. Warm enought for me to use my shorts and a t shirt. It was ok till about 5pm when I was getting too cold so it is back into the warm Pj's for a good nights knitting and football. Boss yet again got all excited and I dont know who he wants to support in tonights game. He got excited and wanted to say a bight Hello to all his 4 legged friends. He has been such a good boy today and well behaved but happily watching the television now. Ok a clear saturday yet again. Such a good day to see some fetes and it was a mixed bag one I dont thing I should have bothered with and the other mmm more marmalade as I somehow ran out. Just regular home made marmalade today and well where to get it any better than from a retitrement villiage fete.
I needed to get a few supplies and to avoid the horrible place called spotlight I went to the much nicer Hobbysew. Got in and out with my supplies and managed to have no wait either. Much easier than the other place. I did attempt to get supplies from another local haby store but i just couldnt get served. It seems that the class that had finished and were chatting was more important than a customer waiting. I rarely go there though due to the lack of service or being spoken too as if I dont know what yarn I am buying.

Just a little piece of our local areas history. Many years ago alot of large businesses were situated in the Illawarra Parkingsons drinks were one which have since gone. So many changes in the industries which once were here over the years now it seems that more often they have left the area with expansion.

Well we are plugging along with the kniting and tomorrow will go to the doll and bear fair held locally. So its off to knit and find some patterns to make some nice new things with but it is a secret I can't tell you yet.

If you wish hard enough you just may get what you wish for ..Maybe its is true.

Ok let have the good side of it all first. Tonight whilst rapidly knitting the bedsocks the Swans made it a back to back win to earn their well deserved place in the AFL grand final next Saturday. So the mascots had to come out for a visit ahead of next weeks final. My only problem is that it is SnB day but will make contact with another mad fan to keep up on the score. I did debate not going and watching but was told its ok for me to go and knit instead.

Ok the bed socks progress on pair number 2 the pale pink Blossom with navy soles. I have almost finished this pair and then its onto the last pair which are regal and navy soles. These were frantically worked on during the last 2 quarters of tonights game. When I get going it is good.
Last week at Knitters Guild one of the ladies brought me in a lovely hand spun and dyed rib warmer which she thought I would like. I love it it is so comfortable and cosy. It is nice to have a quality garment instead of a shop brought one. So we have the back with its cable above and below the front. Didnt have a suitable model and we dont have any large mirrors so the laptop becomes the model.

Now I have the weekend ahead of me after a mixed week at work we have had different days like tracky dak tuesday and t shirt and tie thusday. Today was Footy fever friday but fever it was the air conditioning broke down and we had none. It was a rather hot day outside then add a few hundred people and computers and no air or ability to open a window. You get it it was scorching hot for us workers. Unfortuantly we had to carry on as the job has to except if the computers failed or the power went out or a proper evacuation. I honestly thought I was going to greet the floor before too long. Lucky the cool returned a few hours later and our normal freezing returned and we carried on.

So its back to the footy finals weekend and the knitting hopefully the end of all the bed socks is soon.

Be kind to someone.

I have been able to make good use of some of the things I used as show entries. The winning photo is rehomed to a aviation nut and will be well appreciated as their photos from that day are lost due to computer failure. I guess this is where I'm glad I shoot to film.

I have also sent the photo of the shetland to the owner as well. Again it is well appreciated and I have photographed all of her horses in the shows over the past few years. I have become known for good horse and rider portraits. Some others we know come and ask as well. Photography is just a hobby and I do it and think it is nice to record the horse and rider combination for the child as sometimes the horse is in its last times before they outgrow one another.

Knowing I have made them happy makes me felt the better for it. Simple little things really but giving is certainly better than receiving for me.

The show in picture book style

Ok Bulli Show notoriously known for wet miserable weather, that is when I don't enter. Today is the massed pipeband display and here is all 6 bands in the finale. they were from all over and all ages. Yes I do like bagpipes and dont mind some of the drums only sections as well.

How did I go well see below.

The photo of the Extra 300s came 1st and was the only ine of my 7 photos to place.

The bootees came second.

The socks came 3rd they were in the any other knitted work category. Over all some very good entries and the most photography for any show in the region.

I spent a great deal of the day in the car knitting and listening to my new Ipod shuffle. I honestly could not sit and watch a bunch of young children dressed up doing hip hop dancing. So back o normal knitting again and hopefully I get the bed socks out in the next 2 weeks.

Saturday thru the lens

The rose by any other name would not taste as good. It is the Hybrid tea rose "Hot Chocolate".

Yes it is a real live diamond dove that happily cooled its feet in our water feature.

A clear warm day for Saturday Sky and well for interest the Memorial Arch in Hindmarsh Park Kiama where I normally would march to and play for the ANZAC service each year. Next year only seated playing for me.

Our Knitters Guild had a wonderful afternoon Needle Felting. I can proudly say I didn't find my fingers once. It was just play time with it and supposed to be a ball but this nose seemed to appear and well it just flowed and this little guys head appeared slightly battered from some scuffle. The whole time I was there there were some lovely needle felted charachters that too my eye and I guess it seemed to stem to my ball. He may get a name at a later stage for now its just the head. Bottle of beer for scale only not consumed today.

As for Bulli Show I have no idea of results as I didnt get there today am going tomorrow so we all have to wait another sleep.

Show time get your entries ready

Get ready get set this weekend is Bulli Show. Know so well for wet weather but to get the entries there by 8pm Thursday I have 2 days annual leave.
My 8 x 10 photos and I am putting them into the any other subject class. I want to put the one of Baby the shetland into the portrait section as it is her show portrait from her 3rd placing at Dapto this year. The show Jumper was in the 6 Bar at Kiama show and the Eagle was from the Air show which was on a Extra 300s earlier this year. If I have the wrong plane Metal Stormchase please correct me.

The postcard size with 3 Sport ones from Kiama show and the landscape towards Kiama Lighthouse at blow hole point from the show grounds.

The knitting classes. The bootee class requires 2 pairs of bootees and is normal to use one long leg and one with a cuff.

The just completed socks with grafted toes ( 3 needle bind off is frowned upon in sock knitting for the shows) in beleive it or not a size no where near my foot size. They fit about a size 7 - 9 Ladies and well with my little feet the heel would be hafway up my legs.

Can I finish a size 1 cardigan before I enter. I am not too worried I either do or I don't. Its only the sleeves and the finishings like sewing and bands to go. I also have cooking to do as Saturday Im on afternoon tea at Knitters Guild. I have the delegations out, Dad is once again on the sandwiches and cheese selection. Last year I had 3 trays of well filled sandwiches. He has to help or he just gets in the way. So those who are at Guild hope your hungry cos man sized sandwiches ahead.

Slip sliding away

Wet, wet and wetter is all I can say. I wouldnt have gone out to do things if I could have put them off. So lets start with a view from Hill 60 to the south bleak and dull.
To the north and I braved the cold wet blustery weather to do these.

Ok we have been rather busy. I have completed objects and had to get things done today. I was up at 5am (rare as I went to bed at 2.30 am) and was on the go most of the morning. There was the kitten to be rehomed from my sister to one of my work collegues places. This went rather well the only hicup catching puss to get her into a box for transport.

On to the eye test no real drama getting new glasses made up is a drama. I need small frames which can accomodate my bi-focal lenses. Ok we have a frame for the reading/ music glasses but the regulars mmm no luck at the first point so a 15 mins drive to the sister store and we still had not much luck. The lovely staff memeber rang ahead for them to gather frames suitable and requested that they be black or gunmetal, arrive to be graced with irridecent red, purple, blue ( he said was gunmetal) and some most horrific frames. Ended up with 2 pairs of the same frames one in Black for every day and the other gun metal. I have got off lightly 2 pairs at the cost of $354. Have to grab them Thursday.

One pram cover finished it was a battle towards the end and another late night and early moning job to finish. I have completed more items but will wait till tomorrow for the photos I have to sew them up and get them ready for Bulli Show next weekend. Also need to mount some photos for the show. Did get the sticky dots and ribbon today. Tomorrow sew the bootees and put the ribbon thru them and complete second sock. If all going well as yes another knitting day only, get to the sleeves on the baby cardigan done and put it together hopefully for Thursday show drop off. Holidays mmm what is that I have Thursday and Friday off and mmm might be a bit busy yet with all the things I need to do.

The next militatry bear for my collection. Digger Vietnam. Yes he is just in fatigues but during the conflict they wore no badge or insignia of rank or special skills which would assist the enemy in the event of capture or being killed. Hes a gorgeous addition I cant wait for further releases to add to my collection.

Well off to watch football and knit. More FO's later.

Update later....

Swans won, Dragons won Happliy knitting now exhausted but plugging along. Cant sleep with the wild weather outside. No storm yet but another beautiful one is welcome here.

The cure of this all has arrived.....Storm

All excitement here well for some certain Metal's that is,we have Storm and heck is a beauty. All I can say now is about time. You see for far too long we have been awiating this lovely event to happen and it makes someone happier than a kid in a lollyshop. (although seeing the kid in a lollyshop is fun as well) WE have the start of a new season and NSW won the toss and went straight for it.

Some of you have Tornado Alley or Tropical Storms and Hurricanes, I just love our storms. I hope this one helps the water sitiuation as it is currently over our dams. It may bring some flooding and I may have to go and feed the caravan park folks but then again I may get blocked in as there is only one access to most places and both sides are known to flood. Gee can it happen then its rain day knitting time.

Well on a knitting front the blanket is ending with just the edge to go, Bed socks ok next week, Bulli Show what else can be done by Thursday. This weekend will be knitting busy. I hope to do the bootees, sleeves for a baby cardigan and if I can finish a pair of socks that are 3/4 done well I have the instep and foot to finish. Photos to mount as well and I have my eye test booked for Saturday.

Ill be back to update the situation and what fun we get.

Don't mock the cream

Ok so it ia a big teaser for those who love bigh fresh cream buns and mock cream. We had a bit of a day out in Berry and well Mum has to get atleast 1 apple turnover with cream and I had to take my pick. One glance mmm cream bun with mock cream. I will admit we came out with 1 Sausage Roll for Dad, 2 Ned Kelly pies (mince, cheese, egg and bacon), 2 apple turnovers and 2 cream buns.

Such a nice day to go to Berry and look at their monthly markets. So many handcrafted items and well seeing acrylic items at revolting over priced prices was a joke I mean a pair of bootees for $10 in cheap 8 ply. Come on get a life use good wool. I did see some lovely items in the antiques though and well some antiques I would have loved to come home with if I had the space and money.

Isn't this cute the dog saying prayers. Is this what may happen with our pets next.

Boss as always has been over seeing the proceedings and well was trying to eye off my 2 cream buns as I ate them. I have been busy working on the baby blanket but feel a few more patterns need to be done to get it how I feel it should look. Target to have it completed by the end of the working week. I have had my 3 nieces asking this evening whats that?, who is it for, and best of all why are you making it. I guess I had to excuse the fact it is Fathers Day and they did bring Poppy some nice chocolates. The perks of living at home you get the parents to share their sweets. I still manage to hide mine though. Have to love the knitting bag.

Spring in to Spring

What a fine and rather warm spring saturday we had. I had to have something extra and the pelicans flew by in time. A lovely day for the local school fete and well no great goodies there the cakes were store bought and still in the same packages. Quite disapointing really you go to the fete to see the bits and bobs people make and well craft stall I still dont know what it was jumbled in with second hand toys.

Good side of the day great for gardening and it was done when it cooled off a bit. Managed to get the tax cheque into the bank and the refund of my overpayment on my car loan now I have finally paid it off over the past 5 years. I have found my way again the hair finally got tamed back again. Plenty of the crochet blanket done I think the light at the other end is there in sight.

One pair of bed socks down 2 pair to go. I dont know why but the green got me really bogged down and I hated working on them. pink and blue are the next ones.

Yes tomorrow is Fathers day which serves the excuse in our house for me to get Darrell Lea treats and make sure I get a nice mix of what we eat. I had it packaged in the same type of bag as their selected "Dads bag". I got more items and better value picking my own. They have actually started selling gift bags for you to put your own selection of treats into.

They even out some little comments on the back of the bag. Well back to the blanket and hope all the Dads out there get spoilt tomorrow and allowed to watch the games in peace. I know this house will be Football and knitting.
