Beanie Count 3

The third one and well another bad point and shoot the camera at me. I am starting to think either loose the glasses or wear my readers so the obvious bi-focal dont show up.

Not much knitting today as I was doing a bit of Film photography and too busy learning about sailing and planes. Was a good afternoon to be outside and well I guess I could have taken my knitting but heck why not enjoy some good company. I have been working on another beanie and the tea cosy again tonight and going well.

Soaring like an eagle

for some heavy duty knitting there has been some serious consumption of the new product I found while getting supplies. Sarg and Mike have cast their eye over this and even kept me under control to keep going on knitting. I must admit I will do a bitmore effort for dark chocolate, Good real Tea in a tea pot or scotch. I think Sarg helped keep the Platoon in order with the teapot and the chocolate rations.

2nd beanie done yet again from the Stitch and Bitch book and the same pattern. This time it is using the yarn double and resembles more like the correct yarn weight according to the pattern. We now have 2 down and thrid nearly done also.

My Parents have just returned from a quick trip to Melbourne as my Uncle Mick had passed away Sunday night and his service was on Thursday. This meant a 10 hour each way trip for a large contingent of family and fishing friends from up her on a mini bus and some in cars. Uncle had been fighting cancer for a number of years and it all has come to a peaceful end.

As a fitting poem to put in his memorial they have one for fishing just sight for Uncle Mick who loved fishing and diving and the annual trip to Bendalong with his brothers and other fishing mates. His love of the water helped in his Naval service as well.

Gone fishing to get the big one.

As for me its get back to the knitting as the program has returned to normal and I dont have to worry about looking after the animals and work. Work has been a bit of a juggle and this should calm back down as well soon. Back to the scheduled program I go.

I will rise up on wings like Eagles.....

Soaring Eagles Project update....

One kiddies beanie that fits even me. I tried it for size and the different oppions flew and the giggles started. I was told I was a Wharfies wife, Cancer Patient or even better a Lawn Bowler. Ok me in the beanie looks odd. One of the others had this look and burst into fits of the giggles. I will steer clear of wearing beanies for a while unless it is real cold of a night to go home in. The pattern is Hot head from the 1st Stitch n Bitch book I used left over 12ply to do this.

Another ball of sock wool from Ebay. I swear it purchased itself. Cant wait to get knitting on some of my socks.

I have had a good one today stepped outside as it was thundering for a little peak and well it came down with rain that good I was soaked throughand needed to go back in to change all my gear right down to my boots. So I hope with the possible other weather to happen I can get out to work dry and let it happen when I am indoors away from it. So tonight I sit and knit and drink tea with the dog. I have wrapped the English presents ready to post and will do the second beanie I started at work. I would like to make 5 beanies for the project if I can in just a few weeks. My mind is also planning the knitting I might get done while I have holidays in a few weeks time.

Back to the reading, sipping and knitting. Might have some cake now too.

First knitted gift and about selling

Eden over at Punk Rock Knit Girls (and a guy) asked the question about our first knitted gift and if we ever sell our knitting. I have to say there has been more crochet gifts before I had a knitted one.

I have knitted mostly my own things over the years till I made Bootees for my sister and that was 16 years ago. Only recently my sister said she had never knitted bootees and I found it odd. All her children had bootees and wore them all 4 boys. I knitted them for them most of their baby clothes I knitted or crochet even their blankets. I had been crocheting Doilies for nan and hankies for my Auntys for years before and Kitchen towels are still my Great Aunt's favorite.

Yes I have sold alot of my work over the years. I get orders from either the 2 Alpaca farms or the Craft shop I belong to. I have sold alot at markets over the years. There has been far too many baby sets and other baby wear sold as well as coathangers.

These days the main knitting I do is for Country Indulgence Naturally Alpaca at Crookwell or Handmade in the Highlands at Moss Vale is the other farm. I also do alot of charity knitting with the Knitters Guild for different ones. Most of the work posted ove the past few months are all orders and now sold. I will now only sell what I have made already and well with the stuff I do for shows there is a bit of stock on hand after Easter.

So back to the real knitting and get the bask done for my vest so mum can knit the fronts for me.

Lazy Sunday afternoon got the needles going.....

Just like the Song but I was trying to knit eat and figure what I can wear that is pink for tomorrows Pink Ribbon Day. I dont wear pink excepting my pjs and they are not to go to work in so we whipped up something. I do have a deep red/maroon shirt and thought that a little knitting brooh will do the job. Found all the supplies and sat for about 10 mins and made a little piece of knitting to end on 2 fancy toothpicks and added a mock cable for something different.

Since it was time to eat we cooked a batch of pikelets for afternoon tea. Then did a bit on the secret tea cosy and thought we had better work on the alpaca/silk scarves. I should learn not to put things in a pile and forget them due to orders.

The Branching Out that I started ages back and now should get finished. It is in Mi Inca alpaca/silk. I have not sent anything to Crookwell for so long it is time I got my butt into gear and done some.

The other alpaca/silk scarf but using the Better Homes and Gardens pattern. it too is about half done so again must finish.

Someone else had to have his picture taken today. He wouldnt let me take the other photos unless he had his first and well he was licking his lips at the idea of pikelets.

I am off to start some beanies for the children. I have a good anount of 12ply acrylic from my neices jackets. Perfect to help kee them warm.

Presenting the Kiama Tribute to Priscilla Queen of the Blow Hole

Ok it is cold and blowy. Yes it is even grey but wait what does this help add to ......

The Kiama Blowhole going nice and not over me. The Little Blowhole is going as well This is a nice day picture taken earlier in the week by Steve and well it can just act as a comparison. Why not check out the little cutie Gardie while you there. The cat is not mine he is Steves Chinchilla Persian but I think he is cute.

For Knitters guild today we did Silk painted/dyed scarves. As it was not really a good drying day we all braved the cold to use the cold wind to dry them off. So Kiama Knitters Guild take on Priscilla Queen of the Desert. It really must have looked odd to the passers by all these ladies holding the scarves like ribbon in the wind. I now know why a camera lives in the handbag for times like this

My finished product after it had been Heat set. What fun was doing that. I have an iron that does not tell me the type of setting and for about 10 mins I didnt have the power switched on. We soon figured it out.

About half an hour ago while sitting getting things organised an Earth Tremour shook. It was a case of was that real or what happened.

Want to help a good thing and stash bust at once....

Ok folks you can do it all it will take is making beanies, headbands, mitterns or warm things to help the Soaring Eagles Project which Rachael has started. What a better way to whip up some items from your odds.

Once you read about it you might just feel a tug on the heart strings and think I can knit something. Thats all we need to do make something and get in touch to send it. There is even a few prizes up for grabs. I know I can whip up a quick beanie or so for it. I would like to think about a mosiac beanie or so for it. So think about it get the needles and maybe knit a beanie.

Mail time nice mail today

I got home from a Day at work that some how seemed as if it wasnt there I didnt know it is Tuesday or Wednesday for some reason the days have merged in my brain. There was This little package sitting there waiting for me to open and as I thought oh is is the PRGE pal's parcel or my ebay purchases but no Amysue has sent a little Fall Gift to cheer up my day. I got a roll of cord ribbon and a stitch marker with the intital T on it.

I am busy with the scarf and will soon start on a topsy turvey doll for a special little girl in Tasmania. She has been ever so patient waiting and if Mumm reads this Maygan, Aunty Nanna is getting on to it and hopes to send it before Christmas. Dont ask about the Aunty Nanna idea its a long story. I am actually getting on with the knitting much better and even sem to see it as some fun and not the bogged down orders I had.

Well back to the knitting I really want to get through some stuff as best as I can there is a few ideas I want to try while I am stockpiling for the next winter.

Barking mad

Ok something I cannot beleive. Wandering in The Warehouse today and looking in the toy section this grabbed my eye. Ok so the new idea for dress ups is to do a male stripper. I hope no kids think it is ok to wear that for Halloween. I must admit I went back to that isle that many times making sure there was no child when I took the photo.

Here is the little doggy from Simply Knitting and so far I am calling him Brindle for now but will add his collar and maybe the coat later. He is a quick and small knit but tedious and a real job to get together I dont endevour making ore than this one and I cant say if the other accesories are going to join him.

Top secret Item is complete and will soon be heading for a secret assignment but I cant reveal it at all and am now back on track to the alpaca work and will soon knit another top secret pattern but I might reveal certain sections of this one. I can say it will be my new Tea cosy.

For now it is back to the alpaca scarf from the Better Homes and Garden Mother of Purl feature in April/May this year. I have the luxury of using 4ply Alpaca/silk blend on a 80/20 ratio. More of that to come as well my mojo is in full swing hopefully some yarns for the stock can start being sent to Crookwell as items. Yes despite the stinking heat I still have far too much to work on. Somehow I have to get stocked again for there before the next winter.

Ok back top the reading and knitting much work to be done.

Is it or or is or is it just me?????

What can I say it was hot so I went shopping and well enjoyed the fact most went to the beach so it was nice to wander and look at all the Christmas lights that are around for my offerings this year.
I can resist showing some of my favorite Poppies. These are Buttercup and Flanders Field or Remembrance Day Poppy.
Mr Lincoln a lovely Deep red Rose with slight scent but as close as I have got to getting the rose known as Black Magic. Remember Black Magic chocolates I haven't seen them for years.

Another of my roses Apricot Nectar. Ok yes I like my roses and I love Deep red shades.

I really was to hard to knit much but did put about an inch on the socks and have almost knitted the little dog from Simply Knitting. He has to be finished and I need to get some eyes so he doesnt keep looking like the recent almost phases of a duck or a donkey. Tomorrow I hope to have him ready for a photo shoot.

Now it has cooled down quite well I can go back to the knitting.

Ok some random Call Centre stuff. A little mug that has a rather intoxicated caller ringing thinking its the vending machine. The mug reads "Whatcha mean "Number please?" hic Yuh got mah hic nickel, now gimme mah !!@*~~ peanuts !" I had to have it at 50 cents from a church jumbel sale it is likesome of our callers so it was just right

I came home after a rather awful day at work and found that I had a package from the wonderful Jade. I have my first ever Halloween gift. There are some little goodies and small sweets called candy corn. I have never tried these before. There is even a cute little notepad pencil and eraser. It even surprised me that there are Halloween cards you can get.

AS I have been busy working on Top secret items I really cannot tell you about you will have to enjoy the beginings of a sock that is my inbetween and porta project. This weekend I hope to knock a few UFO's on the head and hopefully make a little doggie from the latest Simply Knitting for a friend from work who grabbed my knitting book and started looking. I quickly said its just knitting patterns to which I got the reply of yeah and I'm seeing what you can knit me.

Unfortuantley it is Friday and I have to go to work but had just jumped online to do some things for Mum and Dad on our Monthly Pay Day so It is off to the lovely callers. I guess I will be thankful being at work in the Air Con as it is already almost too warm to be bothered.

Just for Fun

Just because I have not yet made a Dishcloth and that someone gave me a pile of cotton when they moved to a retirement facility I wentand jumped in to make 2 and have atry at them. So in just a few hours we have a basic knitted one with crochet chain hanging loop. This used 2 strands of Soft cotton in pink shades including a veregated one. I really dislike pink so I wasnt worried about using it on a dirty mug with stains from constant cups of tea over a day.

A crochet star easy make also and well itis a dark bottle green and a christmas veregated mix. Just 2 strands in this one.

So now I have alpaca items to work on and well a secret pal item that I cannot reveal. I have found the light at the end o the orders tunnel andwell I think my mojo came along with the sighting.

The weekend finally comes along again

Another blue fine sky with the Southern Copper / ER&S stack in it to break it.
Ok where to start, Yesterday I came home to this little card from My PRGE secret pal in America who call her family the Northerners. It even had some interpretations of the view for me and her of where we are located in relation to one another. I am getting excited as there is a parcel making its way to me as well.

The bedsocks of doom are done and being delivered tomorrow morning I wish I never took this order it has been a pain as the long legs take forever to knit the ribb section and then it has been a bit of a madhouse to get them done but main thing is I am back to just alpaca farms knitting and hopefully I can restock Country Indulgence Naturally Alpaca at Crookwell soon. I would like to make plent so I can drive it up and go to the Christmas shop that is just around the corner from the shop I supply. Last trip to Crookwell I worked in the shop the whole time and didnt see the town. It is a 2 hour drive to get there so I need a fair amount of stuff to warrant the drive.

While out and about today I took this shot looking over Fishermans Beach at Port Kembla to Red Point and showing some of the old military tunnels that are scattered along my area to protect us during World War 2 as the Steelworks were an important industry and needed the constant protection there were some Air Raids in the area. OK I went mad with the clicky links and the old photos but hey thats my areas history and I am proud of it.

Busy hands and much work

Ok finished Beanie done using the mosaic slip stitch pattern from Barbara G Walkers Second Treasury of Knitting. As I seem to have problems doing intarsia and fair isle this is the cheats version and worked in the round it comes out great. Quick easy and only uses one 50 gram ball of each one.

To Coincide with Pink Ribbon Day supporting Breast Cancer we had our old lighthouse turned on pink for jusat on a week and last night I was able to get a few pics but as I had basic camera and no tripod it is a bit blurred. If I had got more organised I should have went along over the weekend with the better gear.

As we havent see Boss for just a bit heres the on the watch view as he checks out what might be outside. Generally it is nothing and it is just the other diogs barking at one of the stray cats who roam our streets.

We some knitting is getting done and hopefully more for show this week and then there is an idea in my mind for a show entry with a bit of a different twist. Must get my show entries moving along before I get swamped with anything else.

Oh Dear I think this may be naughty

Ok I have a slight update we have had a spoil today and well somethings even if you turn your back on them they dont go away. No matter what I tried to doto resist the Cashmere came home with some Aurora 8 that might become some beanies. Maybe a scarf I am not sure I just liked the way they blenede together. The cashmere I have no idea yet.

The love affair with slip stich Moasic lives one with todays beanie that Ill finish the crown of tomorrow. Two different views one earlier and then just now not really done yet.

Now more naughty stuff treats from David Jones. New Tea and German Gingerbread Biscuits and well chocolates. Yes My teapot does have a cosy and I must think about making a new one for the Kiama Show.

Nice David Jones Peppermint patties and nice fancy Choc orange squares. If we can't spoil ourselves sometimes it gets boring.

Ok Time for bed and well Ill finish more tomorrow I promise.
