A final look at my Melbourne before I catch up again at home.

I give you the Giant Flinders Street Station as our Saturday sky once it had pushed the grey clouds away. It was a rather cool and crisp day though. Good for ploding around shopping.

Last Sunday at the Melbourne Museum the Neighbours actual Kitchen set from the Robinson/Scully household. Yes I could actually touch that and stand as if it was my own kitchen.

I will upload a pile of other pictures when I return home. I have taken quite alot and even knitted alot while I was here. Yarn stores I will say in my own area I am spoilt for choice, I can get to most places easily by car and even just pop out to get some good yarn with in 30 mins travel of home. The only one I found was to my quality standard was Cleggs in Elizabeth Street. Otherwise I was disapointed in the City.

The nupps are going well I have actually done quite a number of repeats more than the pattern requests as I love the Lily of the Valley and working the Nupps. I hope to finish it before I return.
What did I find in Cook's Cottage. Yarn and well knitted items as well. Only tiny but worth a look.
How do I reward thee with pain staking walking around a srange place with long blocks. Krispy Kreme donuts 2 Original Glazed and a coffee. Now back to the knitting to finish the Stormy seas Socks and Estonian Lace Scarf asap hoping before the Weekend runs away from me. I have extra in the bag so knitting down balls is the key.

More to follow next week after I have Returned late Thursday night.

Yes I am still down there in Smelbourne

Yes Im still here in Melbourne. Why Smellbourne you may ask well its From years ago but these days it is a bit cleaner but some areas I must admidt the stench of the homeless will remain. Sunday St Kilda Beach too early for Luna Park maybe this weekend.

City Museum and the Gold vaults. Yes this is real Gold Bullion in the floor. I will say it was not really a good museum seen better at home in the Illawarra Museum.

Melbourne Museum and Great Wall of China exhibition. For Donna a Polar Bear He is a big fella about as high as my shoulder. This was worth a visit and there are other pictures to upload later to my picture Gallery.
A Tasmanian Tiger in the only way I will get to see one. They are no longer found much to our dismay.

I even had to be creative and make a sock puppet for the launch of the 1234 search service at the centre I am currently at. so some yarn, 2 buttons, crochet hook and dpns. I have a groovy critter with moustache and beard hair and tongue. Some other good ones are at Work too. Speaking of work my knitting is progressing great. I am up to the nupps in the Estonian Garden lace scarf and have got a good part of the second stormy seas sock done. I even have about 3 inches of my ISE4 scarf done. I managed to get a pretty blue in a merino/silk blend. So more when I return next week with a quick break to Saturday Sky this week.

Such Is Life

Saturday Sky from my tram stop its like almost at my door. It was a day of heavy showers so sight seeing was done.
What on earth am I thinking Im doing the Estonian Garden Lace scarf in Soy silk Infinity. Over half way throught the Little Flowers section so far.
Stormy Seas socks are moring before work knitting. Almost done the first sock.
Sight seeing in Melbourne had to get a Bratwurst at the Queen Victoria Markets. Darn good eat I only needed a light dinner after that. $6.10 got me a Bratwurst on a roll with Mustard, Cheese, Onion and Sauerkraut. Not bad will go back there next week for a few extra things too.

Had to go see the Old Melbourne Gaol too. Only on Saturdays at 12.30 and 2pm you can see the Ned Kelly show of Such a Life it is worth the visit and even better to see the show. Here we have Armour not the actual Ned Kelly one but very similar. It may have been one of the others sets though. The actual Hangmans scaffold is still there and remains in good condition since 1975 when the last man was hung. Prison records of Even the youngest Prisoners as wellthe youngest I saw a record of was 3 years old a little boy who was Imprisoned as well as his mother.
I was soo happy to take this shot. It is the same as the opening of the First scene of the first episode of Prisoner. I was over joyed to stand there look and think how the scenes went from there. I then immediatley found a yarn store of Cleggs got some nice yarn for my ISE4 scarf and then it was explore more.

As I return to my knitting just like Neds last words "So this is how it is to be then.....Such is Life!" then he was hung 11th November 1880.

Today I woke to see this out my loungeroom window. It was a nice still morning and well this is common so I have been told.

My bed well not to comfortable but it will have to do.
Kitchen even if I live on frozen meals.
Lounge area or sorry knitting room.

The new Pj's even if I wander in a sloppy pair of shorts and T shirt the rest of the time. I did however do some knitting but havent photographed that yet. Tonight I hope to make progress again and on the weekend try to find a nice yarn shop to get some yarn for my ISE 4 pal to think about her scarf too.

Im leaving on a jet plane

I was approached by management at my work today and asked if I would like to go work at the clients Victoria Gardens site to do Floor support for about 3 weeks. I didnt even stop to think and went yes but I have never flown in a plane. So Sunday morning I fly down to start working there on Monday for up to 3 weeks at this stage. Work is not only flying me but giving me a 1 bedroom apartment to stay in I just have to look after my meals.

Off I go so I need to remember to pack enough knitting projects to keep me busy. I may even be able to find a knitting group to help me while away some hours. Near Richmond please let me know. I will work some of the time but have free days as my weekends or something like that. Dont know what to do just yet but I am not much of a shopper I actually detest doing this.

So here comes my first flight ever. I wil try to update this but cannot guarentee that I will have much access. I will try but cameras are getting packed so pictures will follow Of course the laptop has to go to upload them off the card.

chickens and the parsons nose

So far 10 little chickadees have hatched and grown out of their box like battery hens. The little chocks make an appearance every few Easters after a lady at work giving me one and asking me to make more from it. The are not too hard and well a quick little something to give as a gift.

How easy you say

8 ply yarn plus 3.25 mm and 4 mm needles are needed.

Cast on 28 sts using 3.25mm needles knit 2 rows K1 P1 rib.

Change to 4mm needles and knit 14rows in garter stitch

Cast off 7 sts beginging of the next 2 rows

Knit 4 rows garter stitch and the cast off

sew from head to butt leaving ribbed section open to insert hollow easter egg. Add eyes and a red beak and there we go a chickadee.

I even got to watch my nephew ( jersey 10 ) play in the Arrive Alive Cup and well a quick point and shoot yeilded this shot. Warilla High did beat Oak Flats but I forgot the score now.

So back to toiling away I can tell you I am playing with some Soy silk Infinity to get the right needles for a lace scarf project to commence soon.

Lazy Sunday afternoon

I have been busy this past week at work also I made 2 dishcloths and finished the socks. I even have made a good start on the beanies from the flowing bag of yarn hidden in the car. I was even able to get larger DPNs today to stop having to sew the beanies up.
I cant wast the last of the ball so a smaller dishcloth was crocheted with the remains. My friends think it is crazy to use such nice cotton on a dishcloth but I am trying to prove its right place in the new eco lifestyle an that they are better than the enjo cloths they all love. Once one gets a sniff of how good they are I might be swamped. Main thing is that I have another thing of the to be dones off the list. Now is the beanies and chickens plus fit the bootees and baby beanie to complete the set.
How relaxing is Robertson well trying not to doze off in the car while at the show yesterday. I actually spent a good amount of my resting between times knitting the beanies for Mynama/Burma. I was found most of the time between walking around seeing everything and eating or getting food sitting in the passengers side knitting slightly reclined and knitting. I had a pre booked spot and by chance it was in the shade with a nice breeze and perfect to relax for the afternoon. BUt for now back to the chickens so there may be a dozen chickies soon.

I admidt Im addicted to the pavillion showing

I played a cheap side show game and won a Bundy bear who actually sat in the passengers seat with his belt on to come home.

Felix the Cat flew over much to my excitement on his way back to What would Robertson be with out the humble Spud here is the lot.
Irish Hiking scarf in alpaca 1st place
Childs cardigan in alpaca 2nd place
Baby jacket 1st place and what I have to return for in the morning
The Bullock Display and funny I just took the photo before one stuck his tounge up his nostrils.

Another day in the life of a knitting pavillion junkie Part 2

When I arrived the sky looked like this
Crochet baby shawl 2nd Place
Socks 1st place and smug comment from the judge of a pair of socks.
Lace scarf 2nd place.
A long day to be had... Did actually spend more time in the car knitting.

The bad part I have to trek back up tomorrow to get one item that was not put in my bag.

Robertson Show entries 4 out of 8 just finished

Some of the just done pieces for the show to go with the Irish Hiking scarf in alpaca, the lace weight mohair/silk scarf and the alpaca baby jacket. To start with the baby shawl which is also already spoken for.

The baby jacket is done so just the beanie and bootees to do so they can go with the shawl also already taken.

A 6 to 12mth cardigan that I will sell in May.

Thw accident socks that are far to large for my feet.

Results will be known on Saturday so wait til the weekend please.

A day out some kind of adventure please add chocolate....

Today required a day of Annual Leave to take the show Entries to Robertson. I can normally be about an 30 min to 45 min drive to get there but when you hit the trucks, caravans and buses there are further delays going up a 10km winding pass with hair pin bends.

So first get the right music and prepare the ammo. In this case consume a Hershey bar as I had to check out a new sweet shop in Albion Park. I also stocked on Rubarb and Custard, Honey bears and Peppermint Slate pencils.

Just for Ms Darkside a Picture of the Gallery Serpentine shop at Robertson. It was no open to day so just a windo shot before I hit the next door sweet shop.

Ok evidence of 2nd Hershey product consumed before the return down the pass and then off to visit Steve and talk Photography work with him and generaly have a good laugh.

relief at last.....

At present there is Rain and thunder and beautiful lightning outside. Inside I have takena breif break from finishing show items to try and cool off and well mattress stitch gives me the willys after a while. I just have a collar for a jacket and then sew that. Finish a round on the Shawl and check it all over for the ends ect and then if I can I will try to get a pair of bootees done. All going good then I have a few charity items to attend to from the boot of my car. Plus easter is just around the corner and chickens are to be knitted.

I have not enjoyed todays heat one bit went to church and came home sopping wet from the heat. So have laid low in as light and as minimal amount of clothes as I could get away with. Tonight I have resorted to my room for a bit to get show stuff organised and do the paperwork as the room is generally cooler and requiredamount of clothing can be as bare as anything.

Some time ago now I adopted a sheep and well it is a bit further along now and she would be seeing some more rain today I hope. They have officially said the El nino has ended so things will slowly get back to normal and a possible La nina could result we will see if the water issues releive some bit for the drought affected areas. They need a bit each week to help the follow up and recovery of the land.

I really should get back to it all now...

Another Saturday we will knit on

An early start today to go to Sydney on a 2 hour train trip for the NSW Knitters Guild AGM. Not often I can get the sunrise as Saturdays are my only sleep in day and well normally I wouldnt get up before the dawn and get going to catch an early train to get us there before 11 am. this meant a 7.40 am train and arrive at Sydney at 9.58am. a quick hop on the tram to the Powerhouse Museum and then the AGM and after a lunch break a speaker from a beadknitting supplier who also designs from Anlaby Designs. We returned on our normal 2.40 pm train and I was back at my car at 5pm. A long day but a very productive day knitting wise as we knit going up there we knit through the day and then knit back to home.

I fell in love with the Morpeth Church mice. What a cute wedding scene in bead knitted outfits. I did get the erge to do some bead knitting this year as well. For now I have done 2 sleeves for one baby jacket and finished the sleeve of another baby cardigan and now on the second one. Hopefully I can finish them off tomorrow and then make a pair of bootees and finish the sock all by Tuesday.

Boss Has been taking the guard post yet again. He knows the Tea cosy is about to move on to the Castle Hill show and see if they are ready for such a piece. I still cannot part with it and well I dont know why I am so attached to it. But for now try and finish things so new pics can be posted.
