BUsy as a bee

A snippet of the grey vest that was finished with very little time to spare for Kiama show. It didnt place or anything but then again the judge was not the most wonderful one to be on the show. It was by chance that another judge I know asked to go and be an associate judge with the on asked to judge the items. But the whole story is a totally different matter.
I have been trying my best to get myself ahead a bit and at the sametime I have a fair bit to complete. I have the 2ply babyset that I am still working on and feel like it is getting no where as 319 stitches is a heap to plug away on. I have the beanie and bootees of the set also to do. At the same time I am working on alpaca beanie and bootee sets but they feel more achievable with one beanie and a start on the bootees. Then add Easter show entries one done and well the baby dress hasnt even seen the cast on yet. Opps I think I will have to get cracking these are all needing to be done by the end of Feb as it is an early easter this year.
Oh well looks like my weekend will now be planned diferently.

Kiama Show

Quite nice warm weather and some nice Naval Choppers for the sky.

Lovely Kiama Produce market and Mussels cooked fresh on a Italian sauce with sour dough.

Ok show results 1st for the Estonian Lace garden scarf in Soy-silk Infinity for the other than wool section.

Tank Tea cosy 1st, Dog 2nd and Highly Commended for the Owl and Koala.

All the tea cosys in a pack and the grey vest in front of them.

The Hand of grace bag got highly commended.

Also a 3rd in the state wool garment/article comp.

Not too bad at all. To top it all off the TRD Toyota hilux on 2 wheels.

I guess I still must start the Easter Show baby dress maybe tomorrow.

Its what they call Puppy love

Creative cosy made in a day basically. One day to get the idea from the head out in a good order and then go for it whilst on the phones at work and hope that the ideas can flow. A weird little doggy whipped up so the tank is not alone anymore in the show.

I might also add that my mother was sent for 2 beads and a koala nose and brought home 5 packets of googly eyes, 2 packets of beads and a bag of dogs noses. So the noses were put to good use and I had to go back out for the koala noses.
Today coathanger finished and now working on the last front of the vest before the finishings tomorrow. I also need to make lemon butter too.

A busy day and work for all.

In the madness of bead knitting accidently starting I got thru the beaded bag last night and couldnt stop till I had ut sewn ready for a trip to get the pliers that I needed to complete it with . As you can see this bag from Anlaby Designs is small and about the size of a 20 cent piece. Baby Tessa was a easy knit and only had a few rows of short row shaping. I finished it as I had finished a front on the vest and didnt want to cable on for more of the night.

Baby Tessa in all her glory and everything completed. I was able to show friends as I was working along with Monarch Imagery today even they thought it was good. Some knitting was done throughout the afternoon and a new tea cosy will unfold as well hopefully before Thursday. Yesterday it seemed that unless the wider public enter a tea cosy I am the only one in the Creative tea cosy section of Kiama show in the knitting. I thought that I should make another tea cosy for the show while I can.

So this week will be knitting and a slight bit more work for Monarch Imagery getting a few more things for the studio shows. Hopefully I can get some more supplies to make more beaded bags.

Dapto show

Dapto Show day well only one day this year. It was wet and awful I had a very wet jacket in the short time I was there before Knitters Guild in Kiama. I will admidt it was the worst year I have ever seen for the show and tonight on my way back home when i went to collect my prize money the whole attendance of the show was in 1 function room watching Wrestling and there was plenty of room around them all. See what no horse event does and Dapto has the reputation to be stinking hot one year and pooring rain the next. So Ill remember next year Ill cook a the show.

I did ok I got 2nd for the 2 pair of bootees.

1st for Jughead beanie and well overall not many entries at all this year. I entered 5 classes and the other 3 had multiple entries and well of adverage quality not anything really outstanding. I had 8 photos over 4 classes and that was a bigger section to compete with and no luck again. So back in the morning to pick them all up.

Kiama show next weekend and I am going very well on the grey vest and clost to finishing the 1st front tonight then ready for the second. I cant wait to do my 3 needle cast off on the 1st sholder then I know I am closer to the end. Fingers crossed it gets done in time.

Right said Fred All of us together....

Boss has a new TV spot of a morning on the top of the lounge under the window and have snoozing.
But being show time it has been very busy. I forgot to take pics of the Dapto stuff so it will have to wait till the morning and have the results with it. This week I have made stuff for Kiama. A few retro patterns were dragged out of my mental files and put back into sight. The Owl was worked purely by pictures on the net and what I could remember. The koala is a variation that we had here. I remember my Nanna making them for years on end as all the relatives wanted them. I do recall I have one in my glory box too. They are quick to make and look so good my friends are madly wanting them as well. Looks like its a few between things for a while.

I hope to get a vest finished by Thursday for the show and bad habit of going to bed and starting a project happened again. I was supposed to go to bed to read and then sleep but I accidently cast on a beaded bag that I will finish another day. Oh dear the stuff we get into.

Thing are not much better in the dark

I sit here in the dark and type as the only things I have to use is the laptop and my dial up internet the productive day cannot be photographed till we have power again, so it is candlelight and a big stall to the knitting and finishing for the show.

So far today I have had very heavy rain, hail, thunderstorm and now no power so for now Ill just sit it out.

Tankity Tank tank I win !!!!!!!!!!!!

It is here the next tea cosy unveiled today as it was finished. Yes it is a tank bearing the 4th /3rd Battalion Bravo Company markings which is the local Army Reserve Unit. It all started with the yarn and flowed from there. Today was its final point and it got its turrent and gun.

To go with it has always been the joke about the Reserves on exercises. As the Sarg was handing out the guns he ran out and told the last bloke that if he goes Bangity - bang - bang the others know to drop dead. So out he goes and finds this bloke heading for him so off he fires, Bangity - bang - bang. Nothing happened so again he fires and still nothing the bloke keeps coming towards him. He questions the guy and the guy keeps coming saying Tankity - Tank- Tank.
Next to get the other show things finished.

So welcome to 2008

I have to say this year didnt start the way that I thought it would. I spent my new years working and then havin fun with friends mine to let the new year pass in with them drinking and me having fun as the bar maid. From there it went a tad bad. One of our work collegues unfortuantly has died and work helped to alert the problem when she didnt front for work on Wednesday. In all the years it was our second to take their life.

Today was a drizzling day and just humid and icky. I had a few supplies to grab and did that before trying to settle into some knitting I think I did 3 rows and then met with friends for dinner. After we had eaten we were siting talking and I still fit in a few rows which thankfully these friends are very tollerant to.

On to the fun bit the Lady Mayoress' fireworks display and it gave a few of us the chance to get together line our tripods up and shoot pics. Mine are basically on film except this one.

There will be knitting soon it is almost the reveal on the tea cosy one last tiny bit to knit and then get a nice lot of pics. I can tell you its looking good. I just have a few other things to finish and it will all be on track.
